'Invisible Gifts' Becoming The New Trend??

in

Following the trend from last year, many types of council are suggesting ‘invisible gifts’ for Christmas 2010. These include special days out, for example a driving experience, holidays or meals out, making them a day to remember rather than a gift they may never use. The new innovation may hit courier companies hard this year due to the convenience of booking these events.

Councils first proposed this gift idea to target the CO2 emissions and encourage an eco-friendly environment as they have no packaging and doesn’t need a courier service to receive it. With more and more people trying to spread the cost of Christmas each year, this present seems a great idea for those not wanting to buy numerous gifts.

However, even though the holiday experiences have the advantage of being eco-friendly and having less hassle to book them, they are extremely costly; to drive an Aston Martin for two to three hours could be setting a customer back around £200 which doesn’t include travel or food expenses. Also, the travelling and experiences themselves include using copious amounts of petrol and energy and there isn’t always a guaranteed slot around the Christmas period, possibly making the atmosphere feel less festive.

Traditional gift buying from the high street has depreciated with the turn of the Millennium and the revolution of e-retail. Courier services all over the UK have boosted in business because of online shipping from high street stores that have opened an online shop as well. With an increasing number of shops starting to do this, the parcel delivery market has grown but should the invisible gift be something that the courier companies should be worried about?

Also, councils are promoting shopping in the local area which may also have an affect on parcel delivery services in the future as well as e-retail sales. Currently, e-retail and online parcel couriers are increasing in popularity as online shoppers become more aware of how to use the internet, but in the future the thought of an ‘invisible gift’ and day experience could have some effect on the market.

Courier service prices can be found cheaply at myParcelDelivery.com, where a reliable UK and international parcel delivery is offered for fast next day delivery or even a same day courier over the Christmas period.
